A brief history

We trace our roots to the start-up of the Springfield Fire and Marine Insurance Company in 1849. Field Eddy & Bulkley's founders recognized the importance of having insurance resources that area businesses and residents could call their own. Prominent Springfield businessman Henry A. Field founded the contemporary firm in 1925. Field and his partner, Schuyler B. Eddy, were soon joined by Chester B. Bulkley. A graduate of Yale University, Bulkley was the brother of James Bulkley, a founder of the Springfield law firm of Bulkley, Richardson and Gelinas.

FieldEddy Insurance purchased several agencies in the Palmer-Monson area, which successfully consolidated into the Curtis-Hodskins Agency - now one of the largest insurance agencies in the Quaboag Valley. We also acquired the Meadows Insurance Agency in East Longmeadow, MA and the Buckley-Bridge Insurance Agency in Windsor Locks, CT. The Meadows Insurance Agency is now part of the Field Eddy team in our new East Longmeadow headquarters. Two other agencies (Remillard Insurance Agency in South Hadley and Your Choice Insurance Agency in Ludlow) are also part of our family. Our agencies offer a complete range of services for personal and business needs.
